Extreme Trains at Colorado Model Railroad Museum were here on April 14 - 20, 2024.   Fantastic museum.  Recommendation:  10 out of 10!!

The Oregon, California and Eastern Railway in action on this 5,500 square foot HO scale model railroad layout.  Breathtaking vistas and high wooden bridges see throughout this miniature world.

Called 1 month ahead to tour this Museum and they said that they might have a few tour guides.  Fortunately, these two volunteer tour guides, split our group into 8 people each and took us to the back storeroom & look what we saw ... many other extreme trains waiting to come out onto the tracks.

Rainy/snowing that day so did not drive our vintage cars; therefore, it was great to see one of our member's car in the display ... it is the green and white mini cooper you see in this picture.

David is one of our volunteer tour guides. He lives in Franktown CO and comes 2 Saturdays a month to volunteer as an Engineer for up to 4 trains and enjoys being a part of the Museum.

This Dispatcher: 1 of 8 volunteer dispatchers at the Museum. Dispatcher advises the Engineers to know when to bring out one of their extreme trains.  Our tour guides said that he is one of the best.  Most Dispatcher's have either an interest in model railroads or they have worked on a train before.

These games are for all ages; we found only 1 of 5  dragons.

They say that on the average, the personal home model train person uses the 3rd down rail car, which is an HO.

Here is Carole Becker, Debbie Yergler and her granddaughter looking at all of the detailed designs of the trees, grasses and the fisherman trying to get across the pond with his row boat.

5 members chatting about what our experiences were with trains in our life time.

Who keeps museum running:  100 volunteers that come from Cheyenne WY, Franktown, Aurora, Greeley and many other cities in Colorado.   Duties:  answer all questions from visitors; Engineer trains; put together trees as they are shipped, like this weekend they are expecting 4,000 trees to come in, and they put them together and trade out old for new.
